Cryogenesis 1997.1 (Sunday December 29 1996)

(Various people relaxing away from the beats)
Curiously held at the very end of 1996, Cryogenesis 1997 saw 100 "friends of Cryo" take to the water and beach themselves upon Rodd Island on Sydney Harbour near Drummoyne. Without the ferry hassles that plagued Cryogenesis 1996, the day ran extremely smoothly. Setting up a quadrophonic sound system deejays Simon Caldwell, Kid Dolphin, Sir Robbo, Willo Irie, Sub Bass Snarl, Seymour Butz and Gemma dropped appropriately mellow soundscapes ranging from roots dub to Middle Eastern drum'n'bass and strange fairytales. Most people spent the day relaxing and soaking up the sun, which for the first time since 1995 was plentiful, before a Boules kit was produced late in the peace rivalling the random cricket and frisbee games in popularity.
(Strange facial expressions and general relaxedness was the order of the day)
A far "more mellow vibe" than previous Cryogenesis events seems to be the general consensus amongst people who came and people enjoyed the smaller scale and mingled amongst each other rather than keeping to small groups for the first time since the Peacock Pt (Balmain) and Cooper Park (Edgecliff) events in 1995. Big props to everyone who came, enjoyed it, and made it as wonderful as it was . . . . . enjoy the photos and if you want copies email me and I will endeavour to organise something.
