Cryogenesis is the event-organisation arm of Sub Bass Snarl. Allied and working closely in the past with Punos until its demise in 1996, Cryogenesis has been a long term project that started in 1993/4, in the now demolished Dumbarton Castle Hotel in the Rocks before holding free outdoor events in Cooper Park (Edgecliff 1994) and at Peacock Point (Balmain 1995). Cryogenesis has also surfaced at the ill-fated Punos warehouse in St Peters and at the also now demolished Sanctuary Cafe in Surry Hills. 1995 saw the first island adventure to Rodd island which was followed in 1996 by a larger event on Shark Island. Since then Cryogenesis has been a bi-annual event with harbour excursion twice each summer. Lineups include regulars Sir Robbo, Seymour & Gemma and a host of guests including, in 2000, Kodwo Eshun & Bernd Friedmann. Cryogenesis is also the organisation behind Frigid.

The philosophy of Cryogenesis is to organise small-scale, non-profit daytime events where musical diversity is nourished and encouraged by diverting the focus of the events away from solely the music and a dancefloor, towards lush exotic surroundings and a friendly community vibe. A product of the post-rave explosion of diversity and energy, Cryogenesis will continue at least as a yearly event until Sub Bass Snarl is no longer. . . . . these events are stricty low-key operations with very tight numbers so if you'd like to come along for the ride email us for details.
